Crime Victims’ Compensation Program of Texas
CVC is a financial assistance program for victims of violent crime. If your case meets all of the requirements below, click here to apply online.
- Parents/guardians of victims under 18 must file an application for Crime Victims’ Compensation on behalf of the child.
- All crimes must be reported to law enforcement or Child Protective Services within a reasonable time period.
- Applications must be filed with CVC within 3 years of the crime. Child victims have until they are 21 years old to file for compensation; however, CVC encourages child victims to apply as soon as possible.
- Applicants must meet the following residency requirements:
- The crime must occur in Texas to a Texas resident or a United States resident, or
- The crime must involve a Texas resident who becomes a victim in another state or country that does not have crime victims’ compensation benefits for which the victim would be eligible.
